What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a site can store on your device. Related storage, such as localStorage, can hold a similar preference without being a cookie in the strict sense. Matrix Mapgrid uses a first-visit banner so you can accept or reject non-essential cookies. Either button leaves the pages, the classroom details, and the enquiry form usable.
Types we distinguish
Essential. Needed to remember that you have seen the banner and chosen accept or reject, and to load the site’s own style and script files. These do not profile you for advertising.
Analytics. Optional measurements of which pages are read. We do not currently set a third-party analytics cookie. If we add one later, it will appear in the table below and will run only after Accept. Rejecting keeps analytics off.
Cookies and storage table
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| matrix-mapgrid-consent | Stores whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies, so the banner does not return every visit. | Until you clear site data (localStorage) | Matrix Mapgrid (first party) |
| Fonts request (Google Fonts) | Loads Fraunces and Figtree. The font provider may log the request as ordinary web traffic. This is a network request, not a cookie we set. | Determined by the font provider | Google Fonts |
| Image hosts (Unsplash, Pexels) | Serve photographs on service, journal, and classroom pages. Those hosts may set their own cookies when the image loads. | Determined by the image host | Unsplash; Pexels |
How to manage or disable cookies
Use Accept or Reject on the banner. To change a stored choice, clear localStorage for matrix-mapgrid.digital in your browser settings, then reload; the banner will appear again. You can also block cookies entirely in the browser. Blocking all cookies does not stop you reading session pages or sending an email to hello@matrix-mapgrid.digital.
Third-party cookies
We do not run advertising networks. Photograph and font requests may allow those providers to set cookies according to their own policies. We do not control those files. If you reject non-essential cookies, we still cannot strip cookies that an image host sets on its own domain; use browser controls or a content blocker if you need that.
Impact of disabling
Rejecting non-essential cookies does not hide fees, classroom times, or the form. You may see the banner again after clearing storage. If fonts fail to load because a blocker strips the request, the pages still read in your system serif and sans-serif faces.
Personal data connected to cookies is described in the privacy notice.
